It transforms wet wood chips with high moisture content (typically above 30%-50%) into qualified raw materials with stable moisture content (usually 10%-15%). It serves as a crucial pre-treatment step in the wood pellet fuel production line.

The wood chip dryer primarily operates based on the principles of rotary drums and hot air conduction. The specific process is as follows:

1. Heating and feeding: Clean high-temperature hot air generated by a hot-air furnace (burning biomass, natural gas, etc.) is sent into the rotary drying drum. Simultaneously, wet sawdust is evenly fed into the inlet end of the drum through the feeding device.

2. Material lifting and dispersion: The drum rotates at a constant speed driven by the drive device, and multiple sets of rakes are installed on the inner wall of the drum. As the drum rotates, the rakes continuously lift and disperse the wood chips, forming a uniform material curtain to allow them to fully contact with the hot air.

3. Heat and mass exchange: High-temperature hot air undergoes intense heat and mass exchange with dispersed and suspended wet sawdust. The sawdust absorbs heat, causing the moisture on its surface to rapidly evaporate and be carried away by the hot air.

4. Exhaust and Discharge: The exhaust gas, which has become low-temperature and high-humidity after evaporation, is extracted from the other end of the drum by an induced draft fan and discharged after dust removal. The dried and qualified sawdust is discharged from the discharge end and enters the next process.
